Hello all guests and GF members reading this post, although not gaming news this is news that can affect both the internet and video games hosted on the internet among other related things.

I Demon_skeith of Gamingforce.us forums write this article today to inform you of SOPA and PIPA which are fully called Stop Online Piracy Act and PROTECT IP Act. SOPA and PIPA are two bills in the USA legislation that can give the USA government or IP owners power to shut down any site on the intrent that are in violation of these two bills without the need of going to court. Sites that are in danger of this range from wikipedia to reddit to youtube and of course here on the Gamingforce forums.

If nothing is done about this we could lose the internet we love and enjoy. In a protest of this, Wikipedia and Reddit along with several other websites and services like jcink.com plan to blacken out for a full 24 hours on January 18th, which means you can not access the sites. Why would they do this you ask? Because that is what will permanently happen if SOPA and/or PIPA are passed.

In the end though, Gamingforce and it’s members do not nor ever will support SOPA or PIPA in it’s current form. Many sites that have supported it like godaddy domain buying/selling have suffered greatly by losing members and no doubt have received hacking attacks. There are still many supporting it, but after the 18th I like to believe the list of supports will be empty.

I plead with all internet people to spread the word to stop these two bills and make your voices herd that SOPA and PIPA must be stopped, NO MATTER WHAT!
